In On Property Cuevas will be using the gallery to create murals related to the issue of property. Do our rights to property necessitate an unavoidable state of inequality? Can a balance of commonality and privatisation be reconciled when spoils from unjust wars are allowed to become profit? Can commonality ever exist without a common appeal to justice? Natural resources, software sharing, and land rights are themes that will be included in this exhibition Cuevas gained international acclaim for created the Mejor Vida Corp. (Better Life Corporation) in 1998. As the sole representative for this corporation, Cuevas's hopeful work provides a service that often disrupts the flow of capitalism. Although all of MVC's products are free and available at http://www.irational.org/mvc, Cuevas's work is not philanthropic; rather the goal of her projects is to create a human interface through social exchange. Minerva Cuevas (http://www.minervacuevas.org) has exhibited at a number of international venues including Lisson Gallery, The Sydney Biennale, Palais de Tokyo, Grizedale, DAAD Gallery, and Musee d'Art Moderne de la Villa de Paris.
