Exhibition: 16th November – 13th December

A former nineteenth-century lunatic asylum provided the source material for this practice-led PhD show by Dr Sarah Bennett.

Through critical, creative and interpretative engagement with its surfaces, spaces, edges and traces, Sarah has interrogated the conditions and contexts of the former asylum’s ideological construction and architectural rationale. Sarah Bennett is an artist whose practice is located at the intersection between
human experience in the inhabitation of space and the affect of the built environment on those who inhabit it. This consolidates the Reg Vardy Gallery's emerging theme to reflect the work and concerns associated with practice-led research. The Faculty of Arts, Design and Media at the University of Sunderland offers a number of routes to study a PhD, for more information email admenquiry@sunderland.ac.uk
